In April 2020, through a donation announcement from the Baobá Fund, Casa Preta was selected to assist 10 families here on Caratateua Island. The actions consisted of donating basic food baskets, hygiene kits, and digital media on the internet about the importance of social isolation due to COVID-19. The project also has an ongoing phase that consists of donating seeds with a focus on foods that boost immunity.
The initiative was extended with the help of the NGO Amigos de Belém, Mônaco Diesel, A.D.A.PA (Association of Wholesalers of Pará), and Grupo Bom Preço. Through this collaboration, it was possible to donate an additional 240 baskets. Casa Preta served as a base for distributing the baskets to the island's associations of recyclable material collectors, as well as reaching the island of Cotijuba.
